NEWS CHUNKS AND TIDBITS

President Arroyo signed into law the UP Charter of 2008.

This means more autonomy and more funds for the University of the Philippines.

Several areas in Metro Manila, particularly in Quezon City, Manila, Caloocan and Makati, were succumbed by brownouts for 10-15 minutes last Monday night.

The news got big because the supposed power cut-off happened during the airing of the pilot episode of Dyesebel, a new telefantasya of GMA7.

But Meralco explained, a power load dropping occurred in their Pangasinan power plant.

Lopezes own Meralco and ABS-CBN, the rival station of GMA.
